16.06.2004 STUDENTS OF IAAD-TURIN TO PRESENT "THE CAR THAT DOES NOT EXIST", SPONSORED BY FIAT AND HONDA

Students at the Institute of Applied Arts and Design in Turin will present a series of studies under the theme "The car that does not exist". The project, sponsored by Fiat and Honda, will provide insight towards new Fiat concept cars and Honda sedans.

Other than the works done by the students, the exhibition will include epoch-making vehicles and prototypes from Fiat and Honda's past.

The exhibition will be held at the Automobile Museum of Turin, with the public inauguration on Monday 28th June at 18:00 CET. The exhibition will run from the 28th of June through to the 2nd of September.

Theme

Fiat and Honda put forward a brief to design automobile concepts destined for the market in the future ten years.

The exhibited works will present, historical and concept research boards, sketches and renderings by hand or computer. The exhibition foresees the projection of a multimedia CD summarising the entire project.

All projects will remain property of Fiat Auto Advanced Design and Honda Europe.

The project represents another achievement for IAAD-Turin, providing growth in the design education field at international level.

The Fiat project

Consisting in the creation of an automobile with a completely free theme, the Fiat project aims to provide an insight towards a stronger brand image for the company.  Students were therefore able to choose any concept, from citycar to luxury car and also more particular vehicles such as SUV's and crossovers as well as completely new concepts.

Resulting concepts are intended to have a strong character and a remarkable impact on the public. The vehicles should ideally become symbolic, allowing the public to understand that the Fiat Group is evolving.

The Honda project

The objective was to create a new sedan for 2015 destined for the European market.

Concepts for this future sedan had to consider the target's needs, with an effective buying power that evolves progressively and, at the same time, provide a more European 'feel' to the famous Japanese brand.

The new generation sedan had to characterise the emotional fusion between Italian and oriental styling.
