On a day that was hit by bad weather, the Scuderia Ferrari took part in the 'action' proceedings of the traditional end of year Bologna Motorshow, which is now in its 29th year.

Test driver Andrea Bertolini took to the temporary track of the specially constructed 'Lonsdale Arena' just after midday, and ran a series of demonstration laps in the Formula One title winning F2004 chassis.

He made four pit stops during his stint on a circuit which was rendered only just navigable because of the heavy rain.

Despite the grey skies and wet surface, many fans gathered to warm the hearts of the mechanics and the driver, cheering and clapping. For the spectators the day took on a party atmosphere and was yet another occasion to celebrate the triumphant 2004 season with the team.

At the end Bertolini’s laps, the Motorshow patron, Alfredo Cazzola, personally praised all the members of the team, which were today headed by Stefano Domenicali, the Direttore Sportivo.

Domenicali and Bertolini witnessed the procession of the championship-winning Scuderia and lingered at the Ferrari-Maserati Group, Fiat and Alfa Romeo stands.

They were joined by Lapo Elkann, Director of Marketing of the Fiat Group, in a jovial exchange with the fans about the glorious 2004 season.

Also in action today in the Lonsdale Arena, and again suffering in the poor weather conditions, were the opening heats of several knock-out competitions specifically designed for this motor show, including the GT Challenge, Italian Porsche GT3 Cup and the Maserati Trofeo.

Finally there were several displays from manufacturers in the arena today. One of these saw the new four wheel drive Multijet-powered Alfa Romeo Crosswagon in action. This exciting new model, which has just begun deliveries to customers in Italy, amply demonstrated is agility and prowess in front of the massed ranks of show visitors.
