DAMS Lamborghini Murcielago R-GTThe DAMS team stopped at Adria Raceway yesterday, on route to their race debut Imola, for a day's testing with both their new Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT sportscars, that will be entered in the final four rounds of the FIA GT Championship.

One of the two cars was brand new, only delivered the day before by builder Reiter Engineering. Yesterday was more of a shake down than a real test for this car as it obviously had never been driven before.

Felipe Ortiz and Beppe Gabbiani used the morning session to rectify minor problems associated brand  with a new race car, and sort out an ideal driving position.

In the afternoon the pair, who were driving the R-GT for only the second time, spent much more time on the track, getting used to the car, eventually completing more than 300kms without any major problems.

Jean-Denis Deletraz and Andrea Piccini, who along with Ortiz and Gabbiani, tested their car last month at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit, spent most of the day working towards an ideal set up for Imola this weekend, once they had rectified an initial brake problem.

Eric Boullier, Managing and Technical Director commented "We are satisfied with the reliability of the car. We do not have any reference regarding performance but it looks positive. We are still learning a lot about this car, Reiter did a very good job and our relation with them is excellent. All the team is happy to run these two Murcielagos and we are highly motivated to bring them to the top".
