13.01.2005 There is just one Ferrari Enzo in Malaysia, and this Sunday it will be waiting to take passengers on a taxi ride around the Sepang Circuit for the 'Racers United in Aid of Tsunami Fund'

There is only one Enzo Ferrari supercar in Malaysia at present, and it will waiting to take ‘passengers’ for a taxi ride at the Sepang International Circuit on Sunday (January 16) for the Racers United in Aid of Tsunami Fund campaign.

Courtesy of G1 Symphony Racing, the team will also be providing its two Porsche GT3 racing cars, and a pair of Lamborghini sportscars, for this unique circuit experience around the 5.543-km F1 track.

“We will be putting passenger seats into the race cars and naturally, our drivers will be going at racing speed to give the passengers a true racing experience,” commented team leader Chin Jit Pyng, who is also the owner of the six-litre V12 Enzo Ferrari.

“The Enzo is a limited edition and is the one and only available in Malaysia, and I am very fortunate to have it. It will be a pleasure to have the kind donors experience the drive around the circuit,” said the businessman-cum-racing driver.

With 660bhp on tap and a top speed of 350km/h, the Enzo Ferrari supecar needs just 3.2 seconds to get from a speed of zero to 100km/h.  

To qualify for the taxi ride, passengers will have to make a minimum donation of RM50 to the Tsunami Disaster Fund at the circuit. The top nine highest donors will get a unique opportunity of being chauffeured around the circuit by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his Porsche Cayanne.

Chin added that the Porsche GT3 race cars will be driven by Eric Yeo and Firhat Mokhzani, who were the overall winners of the 2003 Merdeka Millennium Endurance race with Chin’s son, Tzer Chin.

Malaysian Super Series supercar champion Adam Azman will be driving his 5.0-litre V10-engined Lamborghini Gallardo for the taxi ride, while Aminuddin Omar will be at the wheel of his Porsche GT3 racing car and Chin Tzer Pinn in another Lamborghini, this time though a Murcielago.

“It’s going to be an exciting event because I am made to understand that there are going to be other amazing cars as well, to be used for the taxi ride. More importantly, we are doing all this for charity,” he said.

Apart from the machines provided by the G1 Symphony Racing Team, Amprex Motorsports are also attending the extravaganza, and will be providing their Japan GT Championship regular Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT racing machine. Like the two Porsche GT cars, the Lamborghini sportscar will be fitted with a passenger seat for the taxi ride.

The Racers United in Aid of the Tsunami Fund campaign is actually, in effect, an much-extended Sunday Track Day programme where bikers will get to use the track for the morning session from 9am, with the drivers then taking their turns in the afternoon session, running from 2pm.

In between these two events, there are to be a series of special activities which will including guided tour around the track, circuit experience, skill driving and lucky draws for the participants, apart from the taxi rides. A special drift challenge, simulator games, and motorcycle wheelie demonstrations, will also be organised at the car park area as part of the programme.

Malaysia’s top racers like Karamjit Singh, Alex Yoong, Shahrol Yuzy, Jimmy Low and Ron Lim are to attend this event, which is open to members of the public.
