20.09.2005 Project 1221 have released a second sneak preview image of their MF1 gas-turbine supercar, this time though, it is from the proposed RWD 2-seater version

Project 1221 have today released a second - very sneak - preview image of their forthcoming MF1 gas-turbine powered supercar, this time though the picture represents the proposed RWD 2-seater version. The 1,500bhp (1,000bhp/ton) MF1 supercar - which will offer selectable left or right hand drive - will be powered by a compact Williams gas turbine engine, allowing a top speed of over 430km/h (270mph) to be achieved.

"The second of the two prospected MF1 distinct models is the rwd 2-seater. Although it shares a certain unmistakeable aura with the awd 3-seater, its styling is unique inside and out," said Project 1221 in a brief press release issued at lunchtime today to accompany the image.

"The rwd 2-seater has the same wheelbase as the awd 3-seater. Also in this case the Williams gas turbine engine is mid-mounted, although the mechanical layout is different. A weight advantage is obviously anticipated for the rwd 2-seater vis-a-vis the awd 3-seater, therefore its power/weight ratio is inevitably even more extraordinary. Indeed both models should improve on our originally set target of 1 kg/hp - 1 000 hp/ton, since the available power is now increased to 1 500 hp.

"As it has already been announced, 10 more days are now left for prospective clients to reserve their provisional chassis number before the regular price of €675 000 is put into effect. After the complete unveiling of the cars and their specification, a 20% deposit will be required in order to secure a final chassis number / delivery position. First deliveries are scheduled for 2008.

"Six months prior to the exact date of delivery a further 60% payment will be required, with the final 20% due upon delivery. Final chassis numbers and delivery contracts are freely transferable at any stage yet all amounts are non-refundable for any reason other than the improbable non-delivery of a car by Project 1221," the statement concluded.
