Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend have had the opportunity to see the new Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 taking on the 'Hill' on the occasion of the new supercar's UK debut. The Murciélago LP640 has been joined in the Sunday Times Driving "Supercar Paddock" by the Gallardo Spyder, which has also been taking part in the runs on all three days up the famous hill.

The dark-grey Murciélago LP640 is surrounded by many powerful and exotic sportscars in the "Supercar Paddock", which always draws the finest exotica on the market. These include the Ferrari FXX track-special, the refined 612 Scaglietti and the new 599GTB Fiorano; the AMG Mercedes-Benz powered Pagani Zonda F; the British-built Ascari KZ1 and Connaught; and of course the feasome Bugatti Veyron which is also making its Goodwood Festival of Speed debut this weekend. The LP640, which shortly arrives in the Bologna-based brand's four UK dealerships located in Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and London, has been driven up the "hill" by factory test driver Valentino Balboni. The Lamborghini brand is also well represented at Goodwood in the Cartier "Style et Luxe" Paddock by the legendary Miura, with significant examples drawn from this gorgeous sportscar's original production run being joined by the recreated Jota model and the new "Miura Concept" which was penned by Walter de'Silva and presented in Detroit back in January.

Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend have had the opportunity to see the new Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 taking on the 'Hill' on the occasion of the new supercar's UK debut.

The LP640 is a new version of the highly successful Murciélago super-sports car and features considerable innovations in terms of body design and mechanics. It was also given a new designation: Murciélago LP640, which refers to its engine position - longitudinale posteriore - and to its power 640bhp. The car was presented at the 76th Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

In creating the LP640, Lamborghini's designers and engineers not only focused on reworking the engine, suspensions, gearbox, exhaust system, brakes and electronics, but also the interior and exterior design; improvements that make the Murciélago LP 640 the most extreme and fastest sports car in its class. Since the original Murciélago’s debut at the 2001 International Car Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, around 2,000 vehicles have left the car plant in Sant’ Agata Bolognese.
