2006 Geneva Motor Show76th Geneva Salon

14.03.2006 Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli demonstrated its leading global position at the recent Geneva Motor Show with more cars being presented on its rubber than any other tyre brand

Once again Pirelli confirmed its position as one of the original equipment leaders on an international scale, having registered a dominant presence on the most important new models at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, which closed on Sunday.

An absolutely exceptional result, since at Geneva Pirelli had the highest overall percentage of tyre fitments, an extremely significant result both at the qualitative and quantitative levels.  As always, the Milan manufacturer's tyres were predominant as original equipment on the supersport cars of the calibre of the Bentley Continental GT, BMW M6, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Lamborghini Murciélago LP640, Maserati GranSport Spider, Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG, and also on superior class premium models. Such was the case with the Alfa Romeo Spider and 159 Sportwagon, Audi S8, Cadillac BLS and STS-V Supercharged, Volvo S80 and C30. Pirelli was also much in evidence on the most admired cars at the 76th Geneva show, among them Aston Martin Rapide and the Lamborghini Miura.

Tyres from the P Zero range and the revolutionary Run Flat Eufori also assumed key roles because of their adoption by the body builders and tuners. Pininfarina's Volvo C70 was fitted with the 18-inch diameter P Zero tyres, the three Minis by Castagna were shod with P Zero, Scorpion STR and Eufori respectively and the Fornasari and Isotta Fraschini prototypes were both equipped with the P Zero Collection.

FERRARI 599GTB FIORANO

In Geneva the Milan manufacturer's tyres were predominant as original equipment on the supersport cars of the calibre of the Bentley Continental GT, BMW M6, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (above), Lamborghini Murciélago LP640, Maserati GranSport Spider and Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG.

Pirelli also stood out among the tuners, having achieved a share sufficient to climb to the top in this specialised area. Typical examples of Pirelli's success among the tuners were the powerful Brabus S V12 Biturbo 6.3 that generates 730 hp and is based on the Mercedes-Benz S Class, which was on 20-inch P Zero Nero; the Sportec-Porsche 997 SPR1 fitted with 20-inch P Zero Rosso and the Jeep Grand Cherokee by Startech, which was equipped with 20-inch Pirelli Scorpion Zeros.

As mentioned, Pirelli's tyres not only established a record presence in qualitative terms, but also from the extraordinary quantitative viewpoint overall. Pirelli had the widest coverage of all the tyre manufacturers at the Swiss show, confirmation of the leading role the company has fully assumed on an international scale.
