On Saturday, May 5, the Latvian Alfa Romeo Owners’ Club and the sole official Alfa Romeo representative in Latvia, Auto Italia, held their annual season opening event in the grounds of the picturesque Slokenbeka Manor House.

The aim of the event was to bring together owners and aficionados of Alfa Romeo cars to inform them about the latest developments, introduce them to the calendar of events offered by Latvia’s Alfa Romeo club, give them the opportunity throughout the day to test the newest Alfa Romeo cars offered by Auto Italia, and to simply let Alfisti relax together and share their experiences.

Thirty Alfa Romeo cars, from a 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider through to a 1975 GTV Bertone coupe and the newest 2006 Alfa Romeo Brera, turned up for this opening event. Comparing all these Italian cars, it is hard to disagree with Alfa Romeo Automobiles Executive Director Antonio Baravalle who said that ka every Alfa Romeo car holds certain values  – style, elegance and sportiness – as part of its DNA. During the event, Auto Italia offered test drives of the latest Alfa Romeo models – the 159 Sportwagon 3.2 4x4 automatic, the Brera 3.2 and two 159 2.2 JTS (one manual and the other with Selespeed transmission).

The Alfisti had the opportunity to compare convertibles produced by Alfa Romeo over its long history in the form of three generations of Spider models.

The next Alfa Romeo event, Aroms 07, will be held in early August. It has become a tradition that the members of Lithuania’s Alfa Romeo owners’ club are in attendance, and this year our colleagues from Estonia are expected as well. For the third time, the event is being supported by “Auto Italia”, the official representative of Alfa Romeo in Latvia.

Latvia’s Alfa Romeo owners’ club was founded on August 9, 2003, with the goal of bringing together Latvian fans of the legendary Italian car maker. The club’s primary mission is to accrue knowledge and experience in the field of Alfa Romeo technical maintenance and to ensure the free disbursement of this information amongst lovers of the brand in Latvia, and to forge links with Alfa Romeo owners’ clubs in other countries.
