FIAT 500 ABARTH

Fiat will release the first official images of the new Fiat 500 next Wednesday, with members of the online "community" at the official Fiat 500 website getting an exclusive preview the day before.

The news of the official presentation of the project comes soon after its world media debut was pushed forward last month from its original date of 15th September, to coincide with the opening of the Frankfurt IAA, to 4th July, the symbolic date that the original Fiat 500 model, from which the new car draws so much inspiration from, was launched exactly 50 years ago. Fiat firmly hope the new 500 will capture the imagination in just the same way that the first model literally 'motorised' the Italian nation in the post-year years. The new 500 will be built at the Tychy factory in Poland, currently home to the Panda and Seicento, and which is currently undergoing major investment ahead of the start of full production this summer. If demand is strong, the 500 will also be assembled by Fiat's joint venture company, Tofas, in Turkey.
