22.01.2007 THE 5,000TH LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO ROLLS OFF THE PRODUCTION LINES

Automobili Lamborghini has achieved a new production record in the first month of 2007: Lamborghini Gallardo number 5,000 has rolled off the production line at the house of Sant’ Agata Bolognese. This remarkable achievement builds on the previous production record realised at the end of December 2006, with the delivery of 2,087 vehicles during one year.

“This is another important milestone for Lamborghini,” said President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “To have produced 5000 Gallardo is testament to the quality of, and customer demand for, our V10 product. “The Lamborghini brand is increasingly sought after in markets worldwide through our substantially grown dealer network, through which supply versus demand is carefully managed,” concluded Winkelmann. The five thousandth Gallardo coupé, a black sports car, is due for delivery to a customer in the UK, and its completion was celebrated by assembly line workers.

The Lamborghini Gallardo has also appeared on the race tracks - here a FIA GT3 specification version takes part in last year's FIA European GT3 Championship.

Introduced to the market in 2003, it marked its first record in November 2005 with production of 3000 units, already representing the most sold model in Lamborghini’s history. The ten cylinder Gallardo coupe produces 520 hp (382 kW), with a top speed of 315 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.
