It's what Italy is famous for – food and classic sports cars – some may say it is the perfect partnership. Bramhall restaurateur Salvatore Fattourso loves both so much he is naming a special pizza at his Woodford Road restaurant, Romulus, after his favourite cars, Alfa Romeo.

Italian-born Salvatore is now on his ninth Alfa Romeo, all of which he has bought from Mangoletsi, near Knutsford. To mark Mangoletsi’s 40th anniversary Salvatore decided to create a special pizza. To show his passion for the stylish sports cars he is creating Pizza Alfa Romeo, which depicts the exquisite brand. Salvatore said: "I am using ingredients which represent what Alfa Romeos mean to me. The brand was founded in Milan so I have used two ingredients which are native to the city – Gorgonzola and Salami Milanese. I then add a little bit of chilli for the spark that Alfa Romeos have.

"I love Alfas; they are different to all others," he adds. "They feel like no other car to drive, the engines are so responsive. As an Italian I know the history of the brand and I would never buy anything different."
 

Salvatore bought his first car from Mangoletsi in 1991 after meeting the Managing Director, Fraser Hudson, who lives in Bramhall with his family, at his restaurant. Salvatore added: "I love the whole experience of buying cars at Mangoletsi. It is a great achievement to reach 40 years of business so my idea to create Pizza Alfa Romeo is a great way to celebrate."
