03.07.2007 LIMITED EDITION MODEL TAKES THE LITTLE APE BACK TO ITS ROOTS

The new, strictly limited-edition Ape Calessino aims to capture the atmosphere of sunny Mediterranean afternoons, the scents of citrus and jasmine, the deep blue sea of a beautiful bay. The lines of its ’sixties style design bring back the unforgettable charm of the Dolce Vita. The Ape, an unrivalled icon of Italian style and a vehicle with a unique personality of its own, pays homage to its origins with a special limited edition version. Only 999 of these vehicles will be available in the world. The Ape Calessino is an essential for collectors and lovers of Italian design, to rediscover the true satisfaction of driving and enjoying your leisure time.

The folding top and the four seats make the Ape Calessino flexible for a variety of uses and situations, for enjoying life outdoors and seeing the landscape go by from a different point of view. Modern aesthetics and precious “yachting style” finishes complete a vehicle meant to be enjoyed and driven with pleasure. A collector’s item, its exclusiveness underlined by a numbered plate.

The Piaggio-built Ape a very special vehicle. Anyone could close their eyes and imagine one. Its unique shape has run the length and breadth of our country in time and space.  Speaking of Ape is like speaking of an Italian story, the brainchild of a brilliant aeronautical engineer, Corradino d'Ascanio, and the fruit of Enrico Piaggio’s far-sightedness over half a century ago. An undying legend that has gone through and somewhat punctuated the crucial events of the history of Italy since the years after the Second World War up to now.

The Ape, an icon of Italian style and a vehicle with a unique personality of its own, pays homage to its origins with a special limited edition version combining modern aesthetics with "yachting style".

Starting from the very first Ape (1948) launched when reconstruction was in full swing to Ape C in the period of the economic boom in Italy to the futuristic Ape Pentarò, with as many as 5 wheels, in the early Sixties, to the Ape Car. Then, the Ape TM designed in 1982 by Giorgetto Giugiaro through to today’s models, such as the Ape Cross, specially developed for the young. A long journey through the lives of generations that has made the Ape extraordinarily popular and deeply loved. Unique and unrivalled, the Ape has remained faithful to itself, even through so many models and never-ending changes, and is always ready to offer its precious help without, as one might say in jest, ever taking a day off.
