25.08.2007 TEAM MODENA TARGETING GLORY AT THRUXTON THIS WEEKEND

Team Modena's Avon Tyres British GT campaign has headed for Hampshire this coming weekend with two races at the high-speed Thruxton circuit. The team's Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 should be right at home at the track's high-speed corners and with the two heavy braking zones in the 2.36-mile lap providing the best overtaking opportunities, Thruxton will emphasise the car's strengths in its debut British GT season.

In its three GT meetings to date, the Gallardo has never failed to leave with a new GT3 lap record to its name, and driver line-up Adam Jones and Matt Owen will be keen to keep that run of fastest laps intact. New quickest race laps at Snetterton, Brands Hatch and Thruxton attest to the speed of the car - this week the team are keen to claim their first podium finish in what is a learning year in the series.

"We're confident in the strength of our car and team," says Team Principal Graham Schultz. "Thruxton is a tough circuit - we have a tough car and will be going there looking for a podium finish." Jones will be having his third British GT run in the Gallardo GT3, having given the Italian sports car its competition debut at Snetterton in June, bringing the Gallardo storming through the field.

Team Modena expects its Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 be right at home on the high-speed corners as the British GT Championship arrives at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire this weekend.

That debut run at Snetterton saw Jones up to second place at the pit-stops, and he also set a new lap record on the way.  At Silverstone earlier this month he led the first half of the race in the Lamborghini Wycombe-prepared Gallardo after taking the lead at the first corner. GT rookie Owen joined the team at Brands Hatch in July.

Qualifying at Thruxton is at 13.25 this afternoon (Saturday), with the two one-hour races at 16.05 and a the second one at 13.42 on Sunday. The 2007 British GT series is held over eight meetings at the UK's leading circuits. The highly competitive series sees the Team Modena Lamborghini up against cars from famous marques such as Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche in the competition for GT3 class honours. Next Avon Tyres British GT Championship round: Thruxton, Hampshire, August 25th / 26th.
