21.07.2007 LAMBORGHINI MURCIÉLAGO BIDDING FOR 24 HOURS OF SPA SUCCESS

The Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT will battle for honours in the 24 Hours of Spa next weekend, with two of the dramatic-looking Reiter Engineering-prepared machines set to grace the grid. The cars have been run by All-Inkl Racing in conjunction with car builder Hans Reiter in this year's FIA GT Championship, and have been working their way closer and closer to the frontline pace all season, resulting in a podium finish during the last round at Oschersleben for the #7 entry driven by local hero Stefan Mücke and Christophe Bouchut, although it was subsequently disqualified for a technical infringement post-race. Bouchut and Mücke will again team up to drive this car at the 24 Hours of Spa next week, however the identity of the third pilot has yet to be announced.

The full driver line-up of the #8 All-Ink Murciélago R-GT though has now been confirmed. The #8 car arrives at the Belgian endurance race off the back of its best result of the season: at Oschersleben in the last FIA Championship GT race Peter Kox and Jos Menten were classified fifth, thanks in part to the departure from the final results sheet of their sister #7 car, and also the race-winning PK Racing-run Corvette C5R. However with PK Racing set to appeal, Kon and Menten's strong 5th place is still provisional. The #8 car will now continue its 2007 campaign by fielding an all-Dutch line-up for Spa.

Kox and Menten will be joined by A1GP racer Jeroen Bleekemolen, a regular in the Championship in 2003 and a frequent visitor since then. "It’s nice that we can start with three Dutch drivers in the only 24 hours race of the FIA GT calendar," says Jos Menten. "We all have a lot of experience, and Hans Reiter did a wonderful job preparing the car for this race. Apart from the chassis everything is brand new.

Bouchut and Mücke (above at Oscersleben) will again team up to drive the Murciélago R-GT at the 24 Hours of Spa next week, however the identity of the third pilot has yet to be announced.

Stefan Mücke and Christophe Bouchut finished third at Oschersleben, although the car was subsequently disqualified for a technical infringement post-race.

"For me it will be my ninth 24 hours race; the fourth in Spa. During my period in the Belcar I drove many miles in Spa-Francorchamps. If I can continue to improve my Spa-results, we should be able to finish fourth or better. In 2003 I finished ninth. I didn’t participate in 2004, but in 2005 I finished eighth with the SRT Corvette C5-R. One year later I was able to take fifth with the PSI Experience Corvette C6.R."

Meanwhile Hans Reiter has explain the reasons for the #7 car's exclusion at Oschersleben. After a good race the technical scrutineers found a fault with the car’s gearbox. The Stewards found a difference between the gearwheels used and the exact specification of gearwheels on the homologation paper. Indeed the ratio of each single gear and even the complete ratio of the gearbox were exactly the same, but the gearwheels themselves had different specifications to those specified on the sheet. Based on these facts, the #7 car was excluded from the race result so Christophe Bouchut / Stefan Muecke and Team All-Inkl scored no points.

"We have only used this kind of gearwheel in the last three years, but made a mistake when typing them on the homologation sheet. This has been obligatory since the beginning of the year. The mistake is definitely that of Reiter Engineering, so we had to apologise to Team All-Inkl and the drivers Christophe Bouchut and Stefan Muecke," explained Reiter.
