LAMBORGHINI MIURA P400

Each year the organisers of SpaItalia choose an Italian marque as the focus of the event, and this year it was the turn of Automobili Lamborghini to be honoured, with an array of its historic cars taking centre stage, including the unique and very rare Miura P400SVJ Spider and Diablo Pregunta, while the Espada and Islero models were present on the occasion of their 40th anniversary.

These famous historic sports cars from the Raging Bull marque were laid out in two rows on yellow matting at the famous Spa-Francorchamps race track in Belgium for the many visitors who attended to admire last weekend, and they were perfectly complemented by two models for the current Lamborghini range which brought the history lesson up-to-date: the new Gallardo LP560-4 positioned alongside its larger sister, the Murciélago LP640.

The Miura was well represented with a bright yellow coupé P400 model joining the one-off P400SVJ Spider in the setting. The unique P400SVJ (#4808) was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1981, having been converted into an open-topped car from a regular 4.0-litre V12 Miura S base model (which itself had been shown in Geneva in 1971) by the then Swiss Lamborghini importer, Lambo-Motors AG. A second exclusive and very rarely seen model on show was the Diablo-based Pregunta, a concept designed by Heulliez-Torino and first presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1998.

The display encompassed almost all the famous production GT cars produced by Ferrucio Lamborghini's legendary firm located in Sant'Agata Bologna, Italy, with the Islero and Espada (both four decades old this year) joined by examples of the Urraco, Jalpa and Countach in lining up on show at Spa. The latter model was an immaculate red LP 500 S Quattrovalvole.
