Magneti Marelli will be an 'Official Sponsor' of the FIA World Rally Championship for the next three years supplying telemetry and advanced tracking solutions to support and enhance the WRC's data measurement and safety tracking systems.

Magneti Marelli will be an Official International Sponsor of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) for the next three years. The agreement signed with International Sportsworld Communicators (ISC), the company which holds the commercial and media rights for the FIA WRC, names Magneti Marelli as the Official Telemetry Sponsor of the WRC until 2010.

According to the agreement, the Magneti Marelli trademark will be linked to telemetry information and data relating to WRC races, including real time data broadcast during television commentaries or published on the official Website wrc.com.

Over the three-year partnership, Magneti Marelli will also be supplying the WRC with telemetry and advanced tracking solutions, with a view to support and enhance the WRC's data measurement and safety tracking systems. Supporting the sporting, media and safety technology requirements of WRC creates unique challenges for the delivery of the Championship. Magneti Marelli's experience in developing hi-tech yet reliable solutions for use in cars which endure high levels of vibration, G-forces and extreme temperatures makes them the perfect partner for the sport.

Eugenio Razelli, CEO of Magneti Marelli stated: "The partnership between Magneti Marelli and WRC represents a natural union, considering our role as supplier of cutting-edge technologies for the automotive world, with a consolidated experience in motorsports and rallies.  In addition, WRC is the ideal outlet for our telemetry, sophisticated navigation and safety systems: their employment under extreme conditions during the rallies will allow us to further develop and refine our systems, and to strengthen our solutions for all car drivers, bringing to them a bit of motorsports emotion as well."

Neil Duncanson, Chairman of ISC, added: "We are pleased to welcome Magneti Marelli to our family of partners, and we are looking forward to developing new and exciting technologies that will benefit the WRC."
