14.01.2009 Sergio Cravero APPOINTED Alfa RomeO CEO AS FGA MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE IS REORGANISED

SERGIO CRAVERO

Hot on the heels of Luca De Meo's departure, Sergio Cravero has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alfa Romeo Automobiles, where he served as head of marketing prior to today’s appointment.

Hot on the heels of Luca De Meo's departure from the Fiat Group, Sergio Cravero has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alfa Romeo Automobiles to replace him. Cravero has served as head of marketing at Alfa Romeo prior to today’s appointment. Mr. Cravero, 48, was born in Turin and holds a degree in mechanical engineering. He joined Fiat Group Automobiles in 1986 and has since held various positions of growing responsibility in the technical, commercial and marketing areas.

Following this latest appointment, which sees yet another senior reshuffle of senior Fiat Group management, responsibility for the individual brands has been slightly revised: Lorenzo Sistino remains in charge of Fiat and also retains responsibility for Fiat Professional (LCV), while Olivier François continues to steer the fortunes of Lancia. However De Meo, who is reported to be set to become marketing chief for the VW Group, was also responsible for steering Abarth with the revival of the historic brand into a standalone unit being very much brainchild. Harald Wester now takes responsibility for the Scorpion brand, and he will also continue in his key role as Chief Technical Officer for Fiat Group as well as being the Chief Executive Officer of Maserati.

In addition, to enhance the effectiveness of Fiat Group Automobiles and further strengthen synergies within the company, four new transversal functions are being created. The new functions are:

  1. Sales, assigned to Lorenzo Sistino, who will be responsible for coordinating commercial activities for the Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo brands. This new function will have responsibility for all markets.

  2. Brand Marketing Communication, assigned to Olivier François, who will be responsible for coordinating above-the-line and below-the-line communication activities for all brands.

  3. Product Portfolio Planning & Automotive Institutional Relations, assigned to Daniele Chiari, who will be responsible for planning for passenger vehicles and powertrain and for managing institutional relations for the Sector.

  4. Product Concept, assigned to Sergio Cravero, who will be responsible for coordinating product development of individual models and determining product initiatives for the Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo brands.
