04.04.2009 DUCATO COMFORT-MATIC MAKES IT THREE IN A ROW FOR FIAT

GERRY CLARKE

“We are delighted to be recognised as the best base vehicle once again in these important Which Motorcaravan awards,” says Gerry Clarke, Director of Fiat Professional UK.

It’s three out of three for Fiat’s Ducato motorcaravan, as it has just taken the coveted Which Motorcaravan Base Vehicle winner’s accolade for the third year in a row. The ever popular Fiat Ducato, the latest version of which went on sale in the UK at the end of 2006, is no stranger to this award and has shown yet again this year that its blend of performance, comfort and handling is exactly what the industry experts look for in a top motorcaravan.

The Fiat Ducato base vehicle was designed specifically for the motorhome market and this year’s award recognises the added benefits offered by Fiat’s six-speed automated manual (automatic) Comfort-Matic transmission.

“The best of the lot is the 157 bhp Fiat Ducato 3-litre MultiJet allied to the Comfort-Matic,” says leading Which Motorcaravan judge Michael Le Caplain. “Comfort-Matic is the best yet of these automated transmissions, selecting exactly the right gear at exactly the right time and making the most of the 3-litre engine’s prodigious torque. Best of all, Fiat backs it all up with the best assistance package you could wish for, wherever you’re touring.”

Fiat is currently market leader in Europe and the UK for the supply of base vehicles to the motorhome industry. The UK market is one of the largest in Europe, and motorhome travel is among the fastest growing leisure activities in the UK. “We are delighted to be recognised as the best base vehicle once again in these important Which Motorcaravan awards,” says Gerry Clarke, Director of Fiat Professional UK. “The Ducato range has proved time and again it is first choice among motorcaravan users, and I’m very happy that these awards have also acknowledged the advantages of the new Comfort-Matic gearbox.
