The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder sports convertible has been awarded the Sports Car Of The Year 2009 title by leading German magazine Auto Bild, in the category reserved for Cabriolet/Roadster Series cars.

The award was presented on Friday evening by the jury of the monthly magazine, at a special awards ceremony during the Essen Motor Show. With eight classes divided into tuned and series production cars, the Sports Car Of The Year title is one of the most desired in the German automotive business, with the awards voted for by 51,637 Auto Bild SportsCar readers.

The new 5.2 litre V12 engined Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder has 560 bhp and features permanent four-wheel drive. The two-seat, mid-engined Gallardo coupé is the most successful volume selling Lamborghini model ever built.
