Over the
weekend at the special
track laid out for motor sports events
at the 34th Bologna Motor Show, the world of Ferrari was
on show with a busy programme of races and
demonstrations. In the Motorsport Arena,
in Area 48, eight drivers from the main
category of the Trofeo Pirelli and ten
gentlemen drivers representing the Coppa
Shell, put on show in three acts, while
the owner-test drivers of the
prestigious FXX Programme were on track
in four of the laboratory cars for three
un-timed sessions.
At the end of the three races for those
in the main category of the Trofeo
Pirelli, victory went to Nicola
Gianniberti: behind the Forza Service
driver, taking his third win from four
starts in this unique arena based event,
were Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP) and
Austria’s Philipp Baron (Baron Service),
while in the final showdown for the Coppa Shell
gentlemen drivers, finishing on top was
Gianluca Carboni, driving for the
Rossocorsa/Pellin team, for his second
win in the Bologna event, followed home
by Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli)
and Giuseppe Fascicolo
(Rossocorsa/Pellin).
Alongside the busy race
programme featuring the F430 Challenge
cars, the spectators who had packed the
stands on Saturday since the morning,
gave an enthusiastic welcome to the
Ferrari FXX research and development
demonstration, featuring the car of the
same name as well as
the traditional show put on each year in
Bologna by Scuderia
Ferrari, with, like last year, Official
Test Driver, and stand-in for Felipe
Massa earlier this year, Luca Badoer doing
a long run of hot laps and a simulated
pit stop, at the wheel of the F60, the
car used by Ferrari in the 2009 F1 World
Championship.
