02.12.2010 CHRYSLER GROUP U.S. NOVEMBER SALES UP 16.7 PERCENT YEAR-ON-YEAR

RAM

Chrysler Group has reported U.S. sales of 74,152 units for November, a 16.7 percent year-on-year increase, and a hike broadly in line with the overall market, up 16 percent, with the Jeep and Ram brands powering upwards to compensate for falls at Chrysler and Dodge.

Comparing Chrysler Group to its Detroit rivals for last month, Ford was the big winner, up 24.3 percent, while GM climbed 12.2 percent. Of the Japanese brands Nissan was the rosiest performer on the U.S. market during November, up 26.8 percent year-on-year, while Honda climbed by 21.1 percent. Toyota though suffered once again, down 3.3 percent.

November represents the eighth consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases for Chrysler Group although it is well short of the 90,000 unit monthly "survival" target that CEO Sergio Marchionne previously outlined. However in nine of the 11 months this year Chrysler Group's monthly sales increased over sales in the previous month.

“We are pleased with the sales momentum that has been building this year, and elated now that we are showing off the vehicles that we’ve been talking about,” said Fred Diaz, President and Chief Executive Officer – Ram Truck Brand and Lead Executive for U.S. Sales. “Our all-new and significantly-refreshed vehicles were well-received during the Los Angeles Auto Show preview and by media at our driving event in San Francisco in November.”

Chrysler Group finished the month with a 79-day supply of inventory (243,206 units). U.S. industry sales figures for November are projected at an estimated 12.2 SAAR.
