For the 68th Venice
International Film Festival, of which Lancia is the main
sponsor for the seventh year running, the brand has been
providing the organisation with a fleet of Lancia Themas.
used to accompany celebrities and film stars to the red
carpet and around the Lido area. This is the first
official debut in Europe of the new Thema, which is the
Chrysler 300 wearing Lancia badging.
The new Thema's role as
Official Car of the film festival strengthens links
between Lancia and the cinema. This tie is demonstrated
by the appearance of some Lancia's cars in famous
movies, including, "Big Deal on Madonna Street" (I
soliti ignoti) in 1958, "The Easy Life" (Il sorpasso) in
1962, "A Man and a Woman" (Un uomo, una donna) in 1966,
"Deep red" (Profondo rosso) in 1975 and "Pour la peau
d'un flic" in 1981. Since 2006, the brand has also
supported the main film festivals, events which are
marked by class, style, importance and internationality
while since 2008, the Lancia Delta has been the Official
Car of some of the most prominent film festivals, the
star of ads featuring Richard Gere, and featured in a
placement in the movie "Angels and Demons".
On sale from October in
all European dealerships, the Thema will be available in
three trim levels - Gold, Platinum and Executive - with
three engine options. The Chrysler 300's 286 HP
3.6-litre "Pentastar V6" petrol is carried over from the
North American cars equipped with an automatic 8-speed
gearbox while new for the European market is VM Motori's
new RA630 (190 and 239 HP) 3.0-litre diesel engine,
however both diesels come fitted with Mercedes-Benz's
elderly automatic 5-speed gearbox. The new Lancia
Ypsilon has also been present at the Venetian event.
