The 16th running of the Vernasca Silver Flag last weekend saw over thirty historic Ferraris tackling the famous, twisting 8.5 km climb that links Castell’Arquato with Vernasca.

The 16th running of the Vernasca Silver Flag last weekend (June 24-26), a dynamic event featuring preserved and restored race cars, run by the Club Piacentino Automotoveicoli d’Epoca, with support from Ferrari Club Italia and the Ferrari Museum, this year honoured the Maranello sports car maker as the event's featured marque.

This was done to stress the close links that exist between the company and the world of racing and its commitment to the historic hillclimb competition. Previous marques to be thrust into the spotlight by the Vernasca Silver Flag include Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Abarth.

The programme got underway on Saturday with scrutineering and driver briefings, followed by the start of the first runs up the hill, with the second and third runs taking place on Sunday, followed by the prize giving.

Over thirty historic Ferraris tackled the famous, twisting 8.5 km climb that links Castell’Arquato with Vernasca. The Ferrari Classiche team was on hand to help owners entered in the event. Amongst the award winners, a Ferrari 375 MM took 'Best of Show - post-war car', while in the Sport, GT, Prototype and single seater categories the honours went respectively to a Ferrari 340 MM, 275 GTBC, 512 M and the 126 C4M2. The special honour of the title of 'Piacenza Circuit Best Ferrari' went to a 125 S which came from the Ferrari Museum.
