19.04.2018 FCA COMFORTABLY OUTPERFORMS THE FRENCH MARKET DURING MARCH

The Fiat brand sold 8,412 cars in France last month and defied the decline its suffered on most other major European markets so far this year. That added up to a very healthy 9.5% year-on-year rise for Fiat and grew its total market share to 3.65%.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) continued its strong start to the year in France through March with its sales up ten percent year-on-year as all its brands gained good ground and it easily beat the overall market’s modest rise.

In total 231,110 new passenger cars were sold in France last month and that represented a rise of 2.2% when compared to March 2017.

FCA sold 10,751 cars last month a gain of ten thousand units and 10.7% year-on-year to give it a 4.65% share of the total market.

The Fiat brand drove those volumes as it accounted for 8,412 units of FCA’s total and defied the decline its suffered on most other major European markets so far this year. That added up to a very healthy 9.5% year-on-year rise for Fiat and grew its total market share to 3.65%.

Alfa Romeo also rose year-on-year last month, by 4.9%, to finish the month with 967 sales. Finally for FCA, Ferrari and Maserati enjoyed a combined 103 sales last month, up 5.1% on the same month last year, while FCA's Jeep brand was up 27.9% to 1,269 units.

For the first quarter of the year the total of new passenger car sales in France stands at 556,849 units, up 2.9% and fifteen thousand units year-on-year.

FCA has comfortably outperformed the market with its 25,262 sales for the first quarter, a year-on-year rise of 11.3%. That gives it a 4.54% share of sales for the first three months of 2018, up from the 4.2% share it claimed during the same period last year.

With 19,543 sales for the year-to-date, the Fiat brand is up one thousand four hundred units and 7.7% year-on-year and has a 3.51% share of the French market for the first quarter.

Alfa Romeo is also up for the first quarter, it’s 2,289 units sold represents a rise of three hundred units and 16.6% to give it a 0.41% share of the market for the year-to-date.

Finally, Ferrari and Maserati sold 229 cars during the first quarter, that was flat on last year, while Jeep is on 3,200 units and up 37.4% year-on-year.
