| Visitors to the Bologna
Motor Show can experience all the thrills and spills of a virtual race.
As a result of an agreement between Alfa Romeo and Sony Computer Entertainment
Europe, four PlayStation® 2 consoles have been set up on the stand,
each equipped with its own driving seats. This virtual driving console
features a plasma screen and home theatre audio system.
Each station allows visitors to take part in a game entitled 'GT Concept Alfa Romeo 147 GTA'. The videogame was developed specially by Sony Computer Entertainment for Alfa Romeo and is a special version of Gran Turismo Concept, part of the Gran Turismo series ( claimed as the most realistic and detailed of the driving simulations that have come out for PlayStation® ). This is a first for Alfa Romeo, which supplied the specifications of its new 153 mph 250 bhp 147 GTA to Polyphony Digtal ( the Sony Computer Inc. software house that developed the Gran Turismo ) to enable them to recreate the driving experience effectively. The resulting representation is accurate down to the very last detail. This has been achieved through the use of state-of-the-art graphic methods such as Environment Mapping that makes the films used in 'GT Concept Alfa Romeo 147 GTA' very similar to TV images. One PlayStation® 2 console and one GT Concept videogame can be won every day. |
