28.11.2002  27TH BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW

>>> 27th Bologna Motor Show Preview:  Fiat Seicento

The Bologna Show will feature the mildly facefifted range that made its debut in October. The version shown on the stand is the youngest, most carefree member of the range: The Sporting. This car looks and acts the part due to a fizzing 40 kW (54 bhp) Fire 1100 engine and a short-ratioed gearbox.

This version offers an attractive exterior look and standard equipment package. It can be distinguished by its sporty bumpers in the same shade as the body, light alloy wheels with 165/55-13 tyres, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob - plus sporty seats and pedal unit. The new version offers the following standard equipment over and above the previous Sporting package: driver's airbag, provision for sound system and swivel-opening rear windows.

The instruments and controls on the Seicento Sporting have a black background with white numbers. The lighting is orange to match the leds on interior controls. Other details included a digital clock, titanium-coloured heater panel and electric power steering.

The new range of the pocket Fiat also includes the Seicento (to replace the previous S), Seicento Comfort and Seicento Clima. The revolutionary aspect of the range is its rationalisation into four different versions. These have been created by offering different combinations of the devices most popular with customers and including them as standard at a very advantageous price. Each specification may also be enhanced by a wide range of options.

All Fiat Seicento versions share the attributes that have always distinguished this car: great practicality and handling, authorisation to carry up to 5 passengers, running economy and an engine - the petrol-driven 54 bhp 1108 cc Fire unit - that assures outstanding performance. This small car is ideal around town but can also promise its occupants a comfortable ride on longer trips.

This will be the last motor show appearance for the ageing Seicento, next year its all-new replacement, code-name "New Small" is launched.
