28.03.2003  STRONG FIAT LIGHT COMMERCIAL LINE UP AT TRANSPOTEC 2003 SHOW IN PARMA

2002: A YEAR OF COMMERCIAL SUCCESS

2002 was a very successful year for Fiat Auto light commercial vehicles. This was reflected by sales of more than 113,000 in Italy with 46.1% of the market share. This record went hand in hand with an outright second place in the European brand sales league table. Last year, Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles achieved a European market share of 12.6% (1.3 points higher than in 2001) with sales of 236,000 (+ 32.2% compared to 2001).

This result is underpinned by the vitality of a brand that has always been able to interpret customer needs and revise its range to meet their expectations. Apart from anything else, the product range is one of the most comprehensive and diverse on the market: it runs from the tiny Panda Van to the New Ducato Maxi at both extremes and embraces other models that are equally appreciated by the public.

The two best-sellers that made the most decisive contribution to Fiat's sales success are the Doblò Cargo and the New Ducato.

Since its launch, the Doblò Cargo has sold more than 47,000 units and is the indisputable leader of light commercial vehicle segment 1B: sales figures for 2002 were more than 26,000 and market share was nearly 50%. These Italian results can be added to an approximately 11% share of the European market (nearly 50,000 units registered).

At one year from its launch, the New Ducato has been bought by more than 88,000 customers throughout Europe. In Italy orders for the model are more than 20% up on the same period last year.

Last but not least, the Fiat Scudo achieved sales of 31,000 units last year, 11,000 of which were bought in Italy.
