Zareh Serabian  LANCIA RISCALA

As our lifestyle and our culture change, also our concept of luxury has changed.

Usually luxury is given by the materials used, but except from wood whose value remains throughout times, the value of materials change according to fashion: gold is substituted by titanium; plastic, thanks to Kartell or designers such as Starck and Karim Rashid, becomes a precious object.

For what concerns interior design, before luxury meant abundance of value objects, now is represented by big empty spaces, “non-colours”. Luxury now is how much I can take away not how much I can add.

Boat is the synonym of freedom, polyvalence represents very well the perception of luxury. Relaxation and sportivity, exhibitionism and privacy, individuality and conviviality  live in it, and that is where my project takes its inspiration from.

For style I used the image of a travelling boat, heightened front and the water that creates a moving wave on the side. The glass part is small and has the shape of a wave, I wanted to reinterpret the privacy of a boat. The front Lancia calender was deducted and runs over its superior part creating a the effect of an arm-rest.

On the side I created a musculature that reminds of the Lancia logo that must have a great visual impact on people. The utilization of wood is the strong bond to the concept car-boat. The strong point of this project is to recreate the double life of a boat, exalting Lancia values.
