concept cars Alfa Romeo Proteo

Designed by Walter da Silva, the Proteo was a 2+2 coupe based on the Alfa Romeo 164. It made its debut at the Geneva Motorshow, March 1991. Many of the Proteos features were later to be seen on the 1996 GTV & Spider. 

The chassis was a shortened 164 floorpan while the engine was a quad-cam 24-valve 3.0-litre unit producing around 260 bhp.

As well as four wheel drive the car featured four wheel steering.
