Lamborghini have dropped clear hints that the 'Concept S' show car, could reach limited production after it received very positive feedback during its Geneva Salon debut earlier this month.

Based on their 5.0-litre V10 Gallardo sportscar, this new prototype, designated as 'Concept S', is the work of Centro Stile Lamborghini's chief Luc Donkerwolke, the Belgian designer who was responsible for both the Gallardo Coupe and the Murcielago.

Concept S was created to be a pure show car. It draws on a Lamborghini tradition with a open and divided cockpit which features low front screens and a sharp cabin divider that carefully blends into the overall lines of the car. Shades of Lamborghini's most recent model, the Murcielago Roadster, can been seen in the concept's low windshield and the long, visually raked lines.

The show car is also believed to offer a very clear pointer to the freshened-up styling that will arrive with the facelifted, and even more powerful Gallardo model, which is due to hit the showrooms within the next year, as it features visually revised front air intakes, and a tidy new tail treatment that serves to simply the styling of its aggressive haunches very well.

Centro Stile Lamborghini (CSL), which was setup by Walter De Silva in 2003, is a studio that does not design cars. Instead, it realizes some of the most emotional and inspiring shapes that have ever been created for clothing four wheels and high-powered engines.

The creations from Centro Stile are not meant to be practical, they are also not meant to be outrageous. Instead they are meant to mix the latest technology with the progressive creativity and beauty that stirs the imagination and passion that are the ingredients of dreams. In other words, CSL is a contemporary version of traditional Italian coachbuilding – a true creator of largely unobtainable desire.

Meanwhile, despite this supposed brief for CSL, Lamborghini have revealed that they received very strong interest in the Concept S during the Geneva International Motor Show, which closed its doors for the last Sunday after opening to the media on 1st March. So much so that apparently potential customers offered to place deposits during the show. With Lamborghini's parent company Audi reportedly satisfied with the sales growth that the Bologna-based sportscar maker has achieved over the last couple of years, the green light to undertake very limited production runs of special editions has become more of a likelihood.
