The GTS 4.4 V is fitted with a Alpina-Bizzarrini 90º V8
engine, with a bore and stroke of 93 mm and 83 mm
respectively for a total displacement of 4,398 cc. The
overhead camshaft, 32-valve engine is built to Euro 4
regulations, with a maximum output of 530 bhp (387 kW) at
5,800 rpm. Maximum torque is at 4,250 rpm. The engine has
Bosch Motronic ME 9.3.1 electronic ignition and injection.
Transmission is by a 6-speed ZF Switch-Tronic
semi-sequential unit with a manual gear change option. The
central gearlever can be complimented or totally replaced
with controls at the steering wheel.
The wheels
fitted are 20” BBS rims, measuring 10” in cross-section at
the front and 13-14” at the rear. The rims are shod with
Pirelli 275/35 ZR R20 tyres at the front and 335-385/30 ZR
R20 tyres at the rear.
Maximum speed
lies at over 360 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h
coming up in less than 3.9 seconds.
In Geneva this
week the new Bizzarrini GTS 4.4 V lines up next to its
famous historical sister, the 5300 GT Strada. This car,
which put the name of Bizzarrini firmly on the map was first
unveiled at the Turin Motor Show, as the Grifo A3, forty
years ago.
Placing the two
cars side by side allows show visitors to compare the two
cars and draw the conclusion that this is a modern
interpretation of a classic theme. Many styling cues carry
over, including the chrome-finished and sharply 'slatted'
air vents behind the front wheels, and a further pair of
scoops behind the rear wheels.
