22.01.2007 FIRST MASERATI QUATTROPORTE AUTOMATIC DELIVERIES GET UNDERWAY WITH A CEREMONY IN MODENA

The first seventy new Quattroporte Automatic models have left Modena for the European markets. Maserati dealerships in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Belgium, as well as those in Italy, will be the first to take delivery. The Italian dealerships meanwhile opted to personally take delivery of the vehicles from Modena.

Just weeks after the presentation at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new Quattroporte Automatic was paraded in the Cortile d'Onore at the military academy. The vehicles then wound their way through the streets of Modena to the Piazza Grande where Chief Executive Roberto Ronchi symbolically handed over the keys of the cars to the European dealerships. At the end of the ceremony, the Quattroporte Automatic left Piazza Grande for their respective destinations.

If the exterior design and the interior maintain the style and elegance that have made the Trident flagship an unmistakable and multiple award-winning car, the mechanical side benefits from new innovation. The new hydraulic 6-speed transmission, a result of the collaboration between Maserati and ZF, is entirely new and has been designed to guarantee fluid gear changes and exceptional driving comfort. The new lay-out of the transmission system emphasizes the progressive power delivery of the Maserati V8 engine particularly at low engine speed without limiting its power. The weight balance has been consequently modified, but the new distribution (49 pct - 51 pct) is still ideal, and unique amongst its competitors, maintaining the segment leading performance characteristics for which Maserati has become renown.

The new Maserati Quattroporte range for 2007 is also enriched by a number of new options: two new colours are presented for the body (Granite Grey and Ocean Blue) and a new type of wood is used, tanganika, while the interior now can be ordered in a two tone colour scheme. The Quattroporte Automatic, alongside the Quattroporte with the DuoSelect gearbox, is offered also in the Executive GT version, which enhances luxury and driving comfort, and the Sport GT, that clearly emphasises the sporty characteristics of the car.

Meanwhile, Massimiliano Giornetti, the designer from the celebrated Italian label Salvatore Ferragamo, recently arrived at the Palazzo Borghese aboard a Quattroporte. Giornetti, who is the man behind the men’s collection at the world famous marque, was in Florence for the Pitti Uomo event. He arrived at the show, held at Palazzo Borghese, in a Maserati Quattroporte.

Thanks to Giornetti, now in his fifth year heading his sector at the Tuscan company, the men’s collection has become highly desirable. Appearing with him in the luxury Trident brand berlina for the exclusive occasion was Ferruccio Ferragamo (President of the label), Michele Norsa (CEO and general).
