10.06.2002  FULL GRIDS FOR GERMAN DIESEL-POWERED ALFA 147 CUP

This year the Alfa Romeo importer in Germany is running an eight round race series for Alfa 147 1.9JTD versions, known as the Alfa 147 Cup. Unusually for a race car the JTD common-rail diesel unit is being used. However the importer believe that this series will amply confirm the power and versatility of the JTD range, as a sporting and high-performing alternative to the petrol engines.

The 1.9JTD in road trim produces 115bhp, however the 5-cylinder engine has been tweaked for the Cup and puts out 160bhp. 36 of these 147s, which cost €50,000 each have turned out for the series.
